Honestly, the best way to protect America is to be proactive.
If we are given a warning of something tragic about to happen and we choose to ignore the warning signs than of course something bad is going to still happen. We are setting ourselves up for failure if we choose not to listen. This is exactly what happened in the case of Nikolas Cruz the Parkland, Florida shooter who murdered 17 people a his high school.
There were plenty of warning signs given before the shooting even took place. But nobody took the time to listen. We become so caught up in our everyday problems and lives that we let the important details slip us by until its too late. Police officers had been routinely called to Nikolas Cruz’s residence multiple times over the years. Cruz even told his therapist that he had dreamed of murdering people and his body was covered in blood. This is disgusting and sick on many levels.
According to americannewscentral:
Here’s the scoop, from The Daily Wire:
Roughly four years before the Florida school shooter murdered 17 people on Valentine’s Day, he told a therapist that he had dreams of murdering people and covering himself in blood.
The Miami Herald reports that a Broward County schools psychiatric file dated May 3, 2014 from the alternative Cross Creek School noted the shooter “reported [a dream] last week of him killing people and covered in blood. He smiled and told the therapist that sometimes he says things for shock value.”
That revelation prompted school administrators to create a “safety plan” to protect others from the disturbed student while he was on summer vacation, including the removal of “all sharp objects from the home” and urging him to “verbalize what the problem is.”
The shooter saw therapists weekly for roughly two years, when he was between the ages of 15 and 17. The Herald notes, “Again and again, authorities were warned about the teen’s explosive tendencies and lack of impulse control. Again and again, authorities ignored the warnings.”
The shooter once informed a therapist he went on YouTube to “research wars, military material and terrorist topics.” In May 2014, a therapist noted that the shooter had cursed at school staff and made comments to his teacher that made the school “fear that he may act out and harm others.”
In case you weren’t convinced that Cruz is human garbage, check out this report coming in about what he’s been up to in his cell.
From The Daily Wire:
According to court documents, the Parkland, Florida school shooter has been observed laughing while in his solitary cell.
Records from Broward County Jail report the shooter “appeared to break out in laughter” on the evening of February 20 after he was visited by an unknown person, according to The Daily Mail. Consistent reports of the shooter being “restless at night” followed in the following days; on February 23, he would not leave his cell for recreational time but was seen “laughing and giggling” with his attorneys.
CNN reported, “Jail visitation logs indicate that his younger brother visited him on the 22nd and 24th,” along with the woman who took in the shooter and his brother after their mother died.
Prison guards have observed the shooter taking medication, although they are unsure what it is.
It’s also pretty clear this guy isn’t playing with a full deck. No rational person would be laughing after killing 17 people.
The red flags were there to stop this guy. Nobody did anything. The government failed.
From Fox 13:
The most significant chance to intervene in Cruz’s life came just six weeks before the shooting. Someone “close to” Cruz called an FBI tip line and – according to the FBI’s own admission – left information on Cruz’s “gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.”
Two days after the shooting, the agency revealed that no one followed up on that tip.
That same month, on November 30, someone called the Broward County Sheriff’s Office warning that Cruz was collecting guns and knives and “could be a school shooter in the making.”
According to police records, Cruz had moved to Lake Worth, so the caller was referred to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Just three days earlier, Palm Beach deputies were called to the home where Cruz lived over a disagreement with the 22-year-old son of the family he lived with. The family said Cruz threatened that “he was going to get his gun and come back.”
After speaking to deputies, the two young men hugged and made up.
Two days before that, the same family called 911 to report Cruz had possibly hidden a “gun in the backyard,” but the incident was classified as “unfounded.”
On November 1, a relative called the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and reported that Cruz had rifles and asked deputies to come and recover them. According the sheriff’s office, a family friend ultimately agreed to take the guns, so responding deputies did not issue a report.
There were more warnings in 2016.
Terrible all the way around.
Cruz will never see freedom again but there are plenty of people out there that would like to see a stricter punishment. You can understand that.
