Bars around the country opened their doors early on Thursday morning to take part in former FBI Director James Comey’s first public testimony since his firing by President Trump.

Despite the mass crowds tuning in to watch, most citizens watching remained almost soundless for hours on end, as onlookers viewed Comey be questioned by lawmakers in a seeming stunned silence.

There were a number of watch parties thrown in honor of James Comey’s testimony on Capitol Hill today.

Many of these parties were thrown at bars, for good reason.
