A man is in critical condition after he was shot while working with his brother.
Police in Orange County, Florida, arrested 21-year-old Jakell Ward on two counts of attempted murder, police said.
Ward is accused of firing his weapon multiple times in an attempt to shoot his pregnant girlfriend outside their home during an argument.
One of the bullets struck Brian Mortensen, who was fixing a fence across the street. Mortensen was hit in the torso and was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
The victim’s boss said that Mortensen is a new father. His wife gave birth to their baby just four days before he was shot.
Ward, whose girlfriend was not injured, denied that he threatened to kill her.
Ward allegedly confessed to police that he offered the victim $400 and a cup of water, but did not call for, and did nothing to stop the bleeding.
