The Judicial Watch strikes again as a federal court ordered the DOJ to preserve Comey’s personal emails.
We can thank a joint lawsuit from the Judicial Watch and The Daily Caller News Foundation. Comey has been caught using a personal email account to conduct official business while he was the director of the FBI.
Inspector General Horowitz leaked the report on the FBI’s mishandling of the Hillary email investigation.
The IG report confirms that Comey, the then-FBI Director, used a secret Gmail account when conducting FBI business when he was a Director of the bureau, despite receiving warnings from other agents.
Now, the Department of Justice must preserve James Comey’s personal emails because a joint lawsuit was filed by the Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller as they seek a preservation order. The Department of Jusitice was very stubborn during the suit as they did not was to cooperate.
Steps to preserve work-related emails from former FBI Director James Comey that he may of had on a personal email account has been refused by the Department of Justice. The request was made under the Freedom of Information Act that the conservative watchdog will plan to file on Friday.
Reported by fbnewscycle:
“There is nothing but complete silence about why the FBI has failed to take steps to preserve records responsive to DCNF’s request,” Judicial Watch attorney Michael Bekesha will write in the filing before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Even after the Department of Justice fought back, on Monday a federal court order that the DOJ is to preserve the former FBI Director’s personal emails. This is a huge win for both Judicial Watch AND the people of our country.
Judicial Watch’s President, Tom Fitton, released a statement today, explaining that the main goal of the preservation is to get ahold of James Comey’s personal records via FOIA lawsuits. This is just the first step.
Tom Fitton tweeted, “BREAKING– COURT ORDERS DOJ/FBI TO PRESERVE JAMES COMEY’S RECORDS.” Take a look at the video:
His first tweet read, “BREAKING: Federal court tells DOJ to preserve Comey personal emails–‘take all necessary and reasonable steps.” Ruling over objections of FBI/DOJ and in response to our concern gov records on his personal email system might be lost. @JudicialWatch.”
