We all know that to President Obama, big government is good government. Which also means that he thinks government knows best when it comes to all things…that are actually none of their business.
For example, running small businesses.
Just recently the man tried to ENFORCE small business owners to pay ‘overtime’ to particular workers, regardless of whether or not it was in the budget to do so.
Of course this type of ‘bullying’ did not hit the masses very well, and one of them was a federal judge in Texas. So he decided to do something about it.
Texas, thank you again.
This past Tuesday this ridiculous overtime rule was DENIED by a federal judge, landing one of President Obama’s TOP regulatory initiatives in dire straits.
A temporary injunction was issued halting the rule ‘NATIONWIDE’:
“Due to the approaching effective date of the Final Rule, the Court’s ability to render a meaningful decision on the merits is in jeopardy,” he wrote. “A preliminary injunction preserves the status quo while the Court determines the department’s authority to make the Final Rule as well as the Final Rule’s validity.”
This rule would have offered overtime to more than 4 million workers starting in December. Employers would have been required to pay overtime to most all salaried workers who earn less than $47,476 a year, increasing the current annual salary limit over $20,000.
Of course this sounds great for those it would have benefited, however…unlike Democrats, we have the ability to look past the initial action into the future and are able to see that in the long run…even the employees who would benefit from such a rule, would want to stop it from rolling out.
What good does getting overtime do for you, if it eventually means you’ll be out of job, because the business is shutting down?
Silly Obama…your lack in wisdom is embarrassing.
“The Labor Department’s overtime changes are a reckless and aggressive overreach of executive power, and retailers are pleased with the judge’s decision,” said David French, the National Retail Federation’s senior vice president for government relations.
Yes, Mr. French. We agree. RECKLESS!
When the government under Obama’s rule and its’ overreach is stopped….it is always a good thing.
