Exclusive — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy Introducing Bill to Fully Fund Border Wall, Making Midterm Immigration Referendum.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is set to introduce the bill this week that will fully fund President Trump’s much needed border wall.
This will set up the midterm elections as a referendum on immigration policy; yet another promise President Trump is working hard on crossing off his list.
Paul Ryan had hinted to there being a post-election fight for border wall funding at a press conference on Monday:
“We intend on having a full-fledged discussion on how to complete our mission to secure the border, and yes, we will have a fight about this.”
The bill will be asking for about $23.4 billion more than what has already gone to the wall effort. It will also ask for other enforcement measures that have already passed the House of Representatives. Congress had already passed $1.6 billion for wall funding in the omnibus spending bill for 2018. McCarthy’s new bill named the “Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act” will cover the rest that is needed for immigration reform.
“For decades, America’s inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created a huge loophole to the legal channels to the immigration process where America welcomes immigrants to our country,” McCarthy said in a statement to Breitbart News.
McCarthy also commented that President Trump’s election was a “wakeup call to America.” The American people want immigration reform, they want Trump’s wall built. Keeping our borders strong is a basic need for every country.
The bill will include the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act, another act that upholds and honors ICE agents, and another that will rebuke illegal immigrants from trying to vote in our elections.
This is huge news and will cover a ton of things that America desperately needs, the only thing the bill is lacking is any action on DACA.
